BLADELESS LASIK

BLADELESS LASIK

paducah lasik center

At PADUCAH LASIK CENTER, Dr. Bowers performs refractive procedures that are FDA approved. The most popular way to correct vision is with a procedure known as LASIK, which uses a laser to change the curvature of the cornea (outer window of the eye). LASIK has quickly become the procedure of choice for most patients because they recover quickly and have fewer side effects and complications than with other methods of vision correction. In fact, most LASIK patients notice a significant improvement in their vision hours after surgery. LASIK removes tissue within the cornea to treat low to high levels of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. With the newest technology, we are now able to treat even wider ranges of refractive errors safely with outstanding results. This means that people who were not LASIK candidates with older technology may now be able to enjoy freedom from glasses and contact lenses.

Our LASIK Technology

Dr. Bowers uses the safest, fastest, most comfortable and most precise advanced technology to perform your LASIK procedure. Our Refractive Suite includes the FDA approved Wavelight Excimer Laser combined with the Lens Sx Femtosecond laser. This platform offers unsurpassed safety, precision and results!

The laser system a surgeon uses to perform your LASIK procedure plays a huge part in your final visual outcome. Over the years, LASIK technology has advanced, and visual acuity and visual function has significantly improved. With each new generation of technology came a solution to a problem that old technology could not address. Improved accuracy, improved safety, and shorter treatment times have all led to vision beyond 20/20.

The older generations of laser technology are still FDA approved and in use all across the U.S. While this technology is still capable of freeing you from glasses and contacts, your quality of vision and chances of 20/20 or better vision are severely compromised. It is important to do your research and select a center that invests in the most advanced technology, to ensure yourself the best possible postoperative vision.

The lasers that Dr. Bowers uses at PADUCAH LASIK CENTER are the most advanced, fastest, safest, most precise, FDA approved lasers in the world.

THE PROCEDURE

The procedure for both eyes takes about 15 minutes. The surgery consists of three quick steps:

  • Creation off a customized corneal flap with a femtosecond laser
  • Customized reshaping of the exposed corneal tissue with an excimer laser
  • Repositioning of the corneal flap

Customized Wavelight with Excimer Laser

The first step in a customized treatment is to obtain the unique “fingerprint” of your eye. With traditional LASIK, which is still offered by a large portion of the ophthalmologists in the U.S., your prescription was based on the testing results used to prescribe glasses (better one or better 2?). Every person who had the same prescription got the same treatment. The problem is that no two eyes are the same! Dr. Bowers uses a WaveFront Analyzer and the Oculas Pentacam to obtain extremely accurate measurements of not only your cornea but of your entire eye. This allows her to obtain a “3-D” map of your eye to guide a unique and customized treatment.

All the diagnostic information is programmed into the Wavelight Excimer Laser. This laser was designed specifically for LASIK by German engineers. It is one of the world’s fastest refractive Excimer laser. This LASIK laser is the only laser in the world that is engineered to consider the natural shape of the human eye and performs not only a customized Wavefront GUIDED but also a Wavefront OPTIMIZED treatment. This means that it is the world’s only laser that treats the cornea based on it’s unique curvature and biomechanics. This preserves quality of vision by addressing the spherical distortions that can induce glare and may affect night vision.

With the Wavelight Eximer Laser, your custom treatment plan is administered with the greatest accuracy possible, for a completely custom vision procedure unique to your corneal characteristics. This will yield you the best possible visual results.
